Farm Hosts Sale in June

Annual Angus Auction Draws Over 100 Breeders to Somerset County

Friedens, PA (June 11, 2010). ErReR Hill Farms recently hosted its annual bull and production sale in Friedens, Pa. Over 100 Angus breeders from around the country attended the sale on June 5, 2010 which is one of the only Angus sales of its type in Somerset County. The sale featured performance tested black Angus bulls and commercial females from one of the oldest ongoing Angus operations in the Keystone State.

Prior to the start of the sale, Dave Mullins, regional manager of the American Angus Association presented Bill and Dan Riggs, the farm’s owners, with a certificate recognizing their 50+ years of breeding and raising Angus cattle. The sale was auctioneered by Steve Dorran and by the end of the afternoon, 15 bulls and 90 cows, calves, and heifers had been sold.

ErReR Hill Farms currently has 19 bulls leased to AI stud cooperatives and the farm’s registered and accredited Angus herd of cattle currently consists of approximately 25 bulls, 150 cows and 50 replacement heifers. It was also home to Bushwacker and New Frontier, the 5th most used Angus bulls in the United States in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
