Friedens, PA (November 29, 2007). Bill and Dan Riggs, owners of ErReR Hill Farms, hosted their seventh annual Angus Production Sale at their farm on November 10, 2007. The auction, the only Angus sale of its type in Somerset County, drew 250 cattle breeders who came from as far away as Oklahoma, Alabama and Missouri. Guest consignors to this sale included John and Lisa Joseph who breed Angus cattle in Connellsville, Pa. and Andy and Belinda Voytus who own Voytus Angus in Creekside, Pa.
The sale was auctioneered by Steve Dorran and by the end of the afternoon 112 head of Angus cattle were sold. The top two sellers were sisters, EHF Blackbird 6256 who was purchased by Tanner Farms in Mississippi for $17,000 and EHF Blackbird H036 who sold for $13,500 to Three Trees Ranch in Georgia.
The Riggs brothers, in conjunction with their cousin Bob Hay, will host their ninth annual Spring Angus Bull Sale on April 26, 2008. In addition to ErReR Hill Farms, Bill and Dan Riggs operate several other local businesses. Bill is president of Somerset Welding & Steel which currently operates J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers and Lincoln Supply & Equipment and Dan is president and vice president of Somerset Steel Erection and Lincoln Contracting & Equipment, respectively.
