Angus Heifer From ErReR Hill Farms Sells for $31,000

Somerset, PA (November 14, 2003). EHF Missie D016, a prized Angus heifer was the top selling female at ErReR Hill Farms' third Angus Production Sale that took place on November 8th. Three Trees Ranch, an Angus breeder located in Sharpsburg, Georgia, purchased the heifer for $31,000.00. Missie D016 has interim Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) that project her among the top 1% of non-parent Angus females for both IMF EPD and ultrasound %Retail Product EPD. EPD is a prediction of how future progeny of a parent are expected to perform.

Over 200 people attended the auction that took place at the farm in Lincoln Township, PA. The auction, one of its only type in Somerset County, PA, featured Angus females from one of the oldest ongoing operations in the Keystone State. The sale was auctioneered by Steve Dorran of Canada, and by the end of the afternoon, 57 head consisting of 37 lots were sold. The next sale event, the Fifth Performance Tested Angus Bull and Commercial Female Sale will take place in April 2004.

ErReR Hill Farms, a well-known and respected breeder, has been raising Angus cattle for over 40 years and currently has thirteen bulls leased to AI stud cooperatives. The farm is owned by Mr. Sidney W. Riggs and his registered and accredited Angus herd of cattle currently consists of approximately 35 bulls, 150 cows, and 75 replacement heifers.
