Angus Breeder Hosts 2nd Annual Angus Production Sale

Somerset, PA (November 14, 2002). ErReR Hill Farms, one of the oldest ongoing Angus operations in the Keystone state, and a division of Riggs Industries, Inc., hosted its second annual Angus Production Sale on November 9, 2002. Close to 200 people attended the auction that took place at the farm in Lincoln Township, PA. The Angus females sold at the auction were purchased by respected Angus breeders who came from 13 different states, and from as far south as Alabama and as far west as Idaho.

Prior to the start of the auction, Sidney W. Riggs, the farm's owner, was presented with an award from the Maryland Junior Angus Association. It was given to him in recognition of ErReR Hill Farms' donations and support of the Eastern Regional Junior Angus Show.

This auction, the only one of its type in Somerset County, PA, was auctioneered by Steve Dorran of Canada, and by the end of the afternoon, 88 head, consisting of 61 lots including a guest consignment of 4 heifers from Rocking P Farm, Horner, WVA, had been sold. The next sale event, the Fourth Performance Tested Angus Bull and Commercial Female Sale, will take place on April 26, 2003.

ErReR Hill Farms, a well-known and respected breeding establishment, has been raising Angus cattle for over 40 years and currently has eleven bulls leased to AI stud cooperatives. The farm is owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Sidney W. Riggs, recipients of the Pennsylvania Cattleman's Association's 2002 Seedstock Production Award. Their registered and accredited Angus herd of cattle currently consists of approximately 50 bulls, 200 cows, and 75 replacement heifers.
